I have to agree that you have a much more positive mindset. Not all people are kind. Do you think that there could be no desires to get someone's house, become a king, wish someone to die or marry his sister, or other nonsense that happens in the head before the age of 18? And as if without this memory, people will not become more attractive? Or that the pain of the impossibility of the desired so easy to experience, and then not regret those years that spent on tranquilizers?

But people are stubborn not only because they are angry, many people go blinded by an idea, and having reached a dead end, they do not think that they can turn sideways.

I have enough people around me that they are happy to forget some of their manias, as well as unsuccessful love, because this memory does not allow them to move into the future, and for this they go to the doctors.

I lived for 2 years in my friend's everyday hysterics, due to the death of her father (with whom she did not communicate) and the desire to work specifically for iOS programs (we no longer have these vacancies due to sanctions). She could do something else - she can. but it seemed to her that the money and joy was only on iOS, and it didn't matter that no one could use it, so there was no such job. Because of the desire for a salary, she refused a salary in favor of something that no longer exists. Claiming that she wouldn't even try anything else. Although she is a really good master.

I was like that. I hate reading, but I make up stories. and it became my mania to draw comics. No… I don't like the process of drawing. I don't know how to line, I don't know how to paint, I don't know how to make volume, I don't know how to make merch. and so on and so on. It's just been saying for 15 years that I'm a jerk in what I chose. I've given up on that this year. I didn't draw much, but I sat down to write. And the 3rd of my works went to the finals of the international cup, because I've been able to give up what I've wanted since high school. Now pictures are not attempts to tell a story, but a mini-advertisement for what is really good. And most of my drawings are orders, because during all this time of my stubbornness, it has become in fact my only way of income. although these are outright pennies. Would I like to could sail to a magical island, to give a wish for fulfillment? - honestly, no. Because becoming a master at the click of a finger is not interesting. Would I have been more determined if I had forgotten the desire to tell the story with pictures, and began to look for another previously invisible option? it is possible that yes.

And to say that this is an unambiguous harm for anyone is not. If my friend had removed the mania about iOS, and looked at what exists, she would not starve because of the savings…

In addition, there is always a clause about the wording. Flying like a fairy herself and building a glider are two different things. for both the performer and the recipient. You wanted to run like Sonic, but you were given a carpentry kit to make a cart, and a lasso to catch a horse, you will be somewhat puzzled. In addition, the mage cannot interfere with the formulation wish and has what he was given. And a person may not want to do something real instead of his childish stupidity.

Yes, the script is a mess. Playing the violin is not what magic is for. And to conquer a mountain peak is not a desire for instant fulfillment. I understand your position. And it will even work for someone. But many people do not even want what they really want, and half their lives regret either their stupidity that they did not see anything else, or their weakness that they could not do something

There are so many cancelled and unrealized projects that Disney is sitting on, that they do not benefit from in any way by keeping them locked up tight. They really ought to just let them go if they don't have any intentions of doing anything with them.

Incidentally, I could never agree with the mentality of “Magnifico is actually the hero, and Asha is the TRUE villain” that a lot of people seem to have. I drew my comic based on this post. I feel like if more people had been aware of this possible interpretation, they wouldn’t have sympathized with Magnifico.

Does Wish have bad writing? Yes, it does. And it’s because of that bad writing that every single character suffers. What I think happened is that, as a result of said bad writing, Asha became a character that’s so uncompelling and lacks uniqueness that she ends up a blank slate for audiences to project their frustrations with the movie onto. King Magnifico on the other hand, is probably the most interesting and entertaining character, due in no small part to Chris Pine’s performance, and so the audience is much more sympathetic towards him and willing to ignore his flaws.

One of Asha’s problems as a character is that she doesn’t really contribute much to the story. By contrast, Magnifico’s downfall is brought about entirely as a result of his own actions. Magnifico is in fact not a good leader, because he gives in to paranoia and temptation, acts in a very unprofessional manner, and escalates the conflict to an absurd degree.

Please note, Asha does not get upset that Magnifico refuses to grant her grandfather’s wish, nor does she ever demand that Magnifico needs to grant every wish. She gets upset that he insinuates that her grandfather might have dangerous intentions, and because he does not have a convincing reason why he doesn’t return wishes that he won’t grant. Rather than calmly explaining his reasoning to her, Magnifico rudely dismisses Asha and then blows up at her.

If Magnifico were a good leader, he would have explained to each person WHY he won’t grant their wish, and given them advice on alternatives. As it stands, he knows full well that everyone expects their wish to be granted. It’s why they even came to Rosas in the first place, it is the literal reason he even built his kingdom. He clearly makes a big spectacle out of the wish granting ceremonies, which every citizen visibly goes wild for. Not to mention, he literally tells Asha, "People think wishes are just ideas. But no, no, they are a part of your heart. The very best part." He knows, for a fact, how important wishes are to everyone. But the movie's awful writing makes him think the best solution to dealing with wishes that MIGHT have dangerous consequences, is to just hoard them. All that returning the ungranted wishes will accomplish is returning the memory of what the wish even is, that's literally it, and the people will be no better off than they were before they gave Magnifico their wish.

I dunno about you guys, but whenever I watched stories that preached “be careful what you wish for”, my takeaway was never “your desires could be dangerous and you should never pursue them for fear of disaster”, I always thought the stories were telling us, “beware of anything that promises instant gratification, because it’s usually too good to be true, and will cost you more than you will gain”. While the things you want in life may have disastrous consequences, you won’t really know until you try to pursue them through your own honest efforts, and not through “magical” shortcuts. That’s how we learn and grow, through trial and error.

As it currently stands from my point of view, when people say "Magnifico has every right to keep ungranted wishes" it looks like they're unintentionally saying, “The Disney Corporation has every right to keep your work and ideas, because you willingly and legally handed them over. Tough luck if you regret the deal you were given. No takesies backsies!”

While I have found no evidence to confirm that the filmmakers intended for Magnifico to be a criticism of Corporate Disney, considering the inclusion of the animation sweatshop scene in Pixar's Inside Out 2, I think the probability is likely. (Not to mention, when Asha shows Magnifico her little flipbook animation, he remarks “Do we consider that a talent?”)

Please note, everyone is free to rewrite and reinterpret Magnifico however they want. He's just a fictional character after all, and fan content is supposed to be for fun. I just think it's funny how defensive people get over him. They say he deserved better, and I agree, but we have very different ideas of what "better" means. In fact, I think every character in Wish deserved better, because again, they were all victims of bad writing. My problem isn't that they took a good man and made him arbitrarily "evil", it's that they didn't make him evil enough from the very beginning. Remember those deleted scenes featuring a villainous Magnifico with better writing, along with an evil Amaya that he can play off of? I'm fairly certain that everyone unanimously agreed these deleted scenes were much better than the final movie, and yet some still insist that Magnifico should have been a hero all along. I dunno, it's a funny dichotomy.

Masamune: When MC returned to her room first day of being in Azuichi, she did NOT expect Masamune to be in there, flipping through her sketchbook. However, instead of clothing or fashion, they were all fanarts of anime and otome boys. “These are some interesting abstract portraits, lass. Who are all these men? All your suitors?” “Pfft I wish. They’re actually all fictional. Where I come from we illustrate a lot of stories and characters and these are my favorite characters that are best bois in my heart.” Masamune loves learning new things so he’s super intrigued and entertained by MC’s explanations of anime, otome, and how people in the future thirst over 2D men. He rips out one of MC’s pages that had a drawing of an otome man with brown hair, swords, and an eyepatch bc it looks A LOT like him (coincidence? I think not) and keeps it. Finds it entertaining when MC gushes about a certain anime plot but will swoop in for a makeout session if she starts gushing about fictional men “Why I can do all those things those fictional guys do AND literally sweep you off your feet, kitten.” If MC brought back anime/manga, he would LOVE action/fighting anime. Also lowkey guilty pleasures in cooking anime like Food Wars.

Nobunaga: When MC was proving she was from the future and dumped out all of her purse contents, he did not expect to see illustrated men on keychains and attached to her wallet and purse. “Are these talisman from the future?” “Oh no! They’re my best bois. In the future we have illustrated stories that sometimes get illustrated or go to game format for you to interact with characters. These characters are top tier.” “So you worship fictional men?” “Ya”. Devil man immediately had an idea. Snagging up the limited item keychains of her husbandos, he challenged MC to Go. “If you beat me, you’ll get your ‘best bois’ back. If not, I’ll claim a body part every time you lose.” MC didn’t even hear the first part bc she was DETERMINED to save her husbando keepsakes. Normal MC lost quite a bit, but otaku MC fueled by her rage and passion overthrew the Go king, impressing Nobunaga for her wit and obsession over fictional men. As they grow closer he’d love to hear her tell him stories before bed about anime plots. Gets a lil jealous that a fictional character can conquer MC’s thoughts more than he can, but he can work on that 😉. If MC brought back anime/manga, he’d love plots with strategy and action , usually revolved around war. Likes it when underdog characters use their wit and abilities to become the strongest.

Sasuke: Two birds of a feather flock together. As soon as he saw MC whip out her anime and otome merch his heart immediately got pierced by the love arrow. What are the chances that a fellow otaku would be launched in the past with him? He’d recognize quite a few of the anime characters but would have to be schooled by MC about the otome characters. Would have fun labeling the warlords as character archetypes, confusing the heck out of them. “Yandere better mean a powerful war god from where you’re from or I’ll kill you, Sasuke.” Both would tease Yukimura for being a tsundere even though he doesn’t know what that means. Sasuke and MC would make dorky anime references to eachother and be so in sync with their nerd levels oh my goodness. “You’re the Winry to my Edward Elric.” “You’re the Vegeta to my Bulma.” “You’re the Kagome to my Inuyasha.” “You’re the Sasuke to my MC.” *gasp* “what the HELL is this dinner conversation?!” Yukimura and Kenshin would probably be thinking/saying in unison.

animaniacs - season 1 episode 38 - spellbound

episode summary: inexplicably stuck in camelot times, brain tries to get the ingredience for a magic spell that allows the caster to take over the world. this episode has no relation to the other camelot episode and i don't... know why.

the rundown: we begin our episode with the assertion that this is England in 1194. at this point in history, everyone from fire emblem 16 has grown up and is gay married, but we're not focusing on them right now. we're going to camelot and asking about their round table.

lol.

anyway after we see this creepy spider do whatever he's doing, we meet... merlin, i guess.

my dude??? he looks different. did you go on queer eye, merlin? whatever. he technically doesn't say he's merlin, so... maybe he's the other guy? the older guy? who's like merlin's dad?

this fucker. is he in the original king arthur? idk man i only watch cartoons. anyway he is casting a spell and it is very important. important enough to require components from yoko ono, apparently. like she hasn't suffered on this show enough.

but who do we have here?

"mouse" as my flatmate elegantly put it when he walked past the tv room to get a water. but even better than mouse??? mouse in SHORTS. MOUSE IN SHORTS MOUSE IN SHORTS??? MOUSE IN SHORTS. MOUSE IN SHORTS LOOK AT HIS LITTLE LEGYS MOUSE IN SHORTS MOUSE IN. SHORTS MOUSE IN SHORTS. MOUSE IN SHORTS.

pinky is not wearing shorts, which is incredibly disappointing. he's wearing some sort of sleeveless shirt dress tunic thing in an awful colour that someone like kanye west or justin bieber probably sells on their merch store for like a thousand dollars. he got the yeezy fit, damn. despite the designer status of his clothes, his bedroom eyes still do not convince me.

"i wish i was a windowsill so i could be--! ah. um."

"an imbecile?"

"ah! haha good rhyme, brain!" the bop of the century. kanye west sells the "windowsill" remix in vinyl on his online store for an additional fifty dollars.

after naming a few more celebrities ("I win, you win, edwin newman") the cauldron explodes in a puff of green smoke! and we get!

a pie. “lo!” he cries. “i’ve made a nice pie.”

hm. pinky is impressed. brain is uh. i think he mentally checked out? whatever he's doing i cannot stop fucking laughing at it. i actually had to put this post on pause for longer than anticipated because brain’s stupid face got to me. i’m so sorry. i started writing this at like 11pm gmt on the 11th and it just didn’t get to y’all in time because of brain’s stupid fucking face.

i’m sorry. brain is less impressed and declares it a “waste of magic”, and that he “would never squander such mystical powers over mere pastry.”

“poit. but what if you were eating dinner and you forgot dessert?”

“maybe then.”

but there is trouble afoot! Old Man Merlin has realised that king arthur will want some of his pie, and decides he’d better eat it in the dungeon so that doesn’t happen.

brain takes this opportunity to look through Old Man Merlin’s big book of spells. he “will use merlin’s magic to take control of the world” and then we get another nice closeup of his funny little face.

i don’t know why animaniacs was so keen on doing this? does it happen this much in the reboot? it feels like every episode we stare brain down to assert dominance.

“oh, no, no. where will you find a magic spell for that?”

“in the table of contents, pinky.”

“oh, well, very good.”

(the table of contents also contains a spell to “win at blackjack”, next to the taking over the world spell. brain considers this, for a moment, and then decides now is probably not the time.)

so good thing they have all the components for the magic spell, eh? including the Half Eaten Gingerbread Cookie That’s Been Left On The Counter All Night.

hmm.

oh, wait, no they don’t. turns out they’re fresh out of red dragon toenails, so brain’s solution to this problem is just to... go and get more, which is obviously a thing people do. they have to cross the enchanted forest to do that. it has witches and stuff. pinky rightfully points out that that is a lot of danger to overcome, and brain gets his stealing-the-minivan vibes back and nicks Old Man Merlin’s magic wand. he only knows one spell, but that won’t stop him.

the first obstacle they have to cross is the gingerbread house owned by... witch hazel from looney tunes. she’s a lot less annoying here than in bugs bunny lost in time, and informs brain that she is “waiting for pudgy german children.” instead of taking her suggestion to “get outta here”, brain magics her ass.

charlie sheen, ben vereen, shrink to the size of a lima bean.

they do get their ass handed to them by aforementioned pudgy german children, but then the german children decide that the mice have syphillis and yeet them in the general direction of slappy squirrel, who is here now.

she starts an argument with the goodfeathers, who are also here now, and brain takes it as their cue to leave.

but never mind all that! good thing there’s a handy bridge over this stream!

unfortunately, the bridge likes to spawn Giant Purple Hands That Kidnap Goats, so brain concludes they should cross said bridge using Stealth. unfortunately pinky drops the wand on the source of the Giant Purple Hands, and it is... relatively unhappy.

so brain pulls out the old “ charlie sheen, ben vereen, shrink to the size of a lima bean” again.

i did definitely think the troll was going to kick him in the crotch. i was very much sure of this, actually. instead it yeets him into rita and runt and fucks off.

“for goodness sake boxy” i hear you cry, “aren’t they at the dragon yet! this review has lasted a good twenty years of scrolling down my dashboard!” and i hear you, and you’re right, but the first thing you need to understand is; pinky has spent this whole episode singing. that little guitar he has? he has spent the whole episode replicating windowsill. “we’re in the woods so dark and stinky, to conquer the world, go brain and--” and then he forgets his name and brain has to remind him that it’s pinky. or remind him of his own name, or suggest like, steam to rhyme with stream. that is the running gag of this episode, and it is very important, at this stage, that you know that. pinky has not, as of yet, stopped singing and playing the lute.

so even though they make it to the dragon pretty mucn unscathed (aside from brain getting sat on by a giant, but i won’t go into that unless y’all specifically want details) pinky just has to have his little song in order to keep the dragon asleep.

and then brain yells at him for forgetting the word “sandman”, which breaks the toenail off completely,

and also wakes up the dragon, which can’t be good. it’s not happy! it was growing its’ nails out for paris fashion week.

brain tries his best to rectify this situation.

“charlie sheen, ben vereen--!”

charlie sheen and ben vereen are dead. i’m sorry to have to tell you. they shrunk down so much they got stuck in the quantum zone from antman and the wasp. someone should probably do something about that.

anyway the mice decide to hightail it back to Old Man Merlin’s.

conclusion:

spoilies: they do make it back in one piece. i won’t detail the whole chase scene because it’s just a bunch of running, because the post is long enough already, and also because tumblr has eaten it three fucking times and i could basically type all this in my sleep now. the things i do for y’all. donate to the wavemaiden.

so pinky shoves all the ingredients into the pot, while brain finds The Take Over The World Spell. the dragon is harassing them this whole time, which feels unfair.

“listen carefully, pinky. i need to recite this spell exactly, and once i start i cannot stop. so i need you to be extra quiet, okay?”

“sure thing, brain.”

this lasts for approximately five minutes.

“brain’s the boss! he’ll rule with ease!”

“mystical powers, your might unfurled, grant that i become--”

“he’s the one! the big, erm. banana?”

“cheese!” yells brain, who has given up entirely by this point. “it rhymes with ease! big! cheese!”

hm.

“are you alright, brain?”

“i feel. odd.”

this is an interesting development.

so brain is cheese now! cool. i guess they have to wait for merlin to get back from Pie Heaven and turn him back, somehow? with his spare wand or whatever. this is definitely pinky’s fault, because brain did ask him to stay quiet for a bit surprisingly nicely (in brain terms) and he... did not. and now brain is a cheese.

on the other hand, this would probably work again if they tried it again, once merlin goes back to pick up some more toenails.

red ridge, nv, 2020. at twenty-nine she’s neon gas begging to be lit up. there’s a tiger on her forearm, hides the scars of a previous life. there’s always ink under her fingernails, sometimes it seems it shines in the dark. red ridge has become her home; damien, lyla, rowan: her familt. the car she’d begun to fix with the man who helped her now has been colored bright pink and bears the name of flamingo, and she rides it out in the desert letting it add to the spirit in her heart — wild, untamed, free. her family becomes red ridge, becomes the darkenss of it too. she’s made herself a home in the sand: an old garage, turned inside out, now overflowing with flowers and colors, sparkling gems and drawings hanging at every corner — and a canary, otis, that sings her to sleep every night. she’s called it dustland, a sort of mythical place at the edge of red ridge, into the nothing, willing to welcome all the broken, all the wounded and the lost. but she loses herself too, now and then. at times she looks past the profiles of houses and buildings, and knows there’s a den of coyotes hiding among the ranks of valencia, which hold the key to that rabbit hole she once lost herself in. at night, when the desert gets cold and her bones don’t feel anything like a tiger’s — she swears she can hear the coyotes howl, beckoning. one night she caves in, asks them for a dose: she keeps it under her bed, lets it become her shame, and to avoid that secret getting out she helps the coyotes out anytime they ask. sometimes she feels she’s falling apart again. when she does, she turns to the ink to remind herself of how life was drained out of all shades, because of the needles in her arm. sometimes it’s enough to keep her breathing to the night. sometimes.

QUELIOT MOMENTS SEASON TWO

All of these posts will be tagged Masterlist and Queliot Masterlist so if you ever need to find it go to my blog and look under that tag.

If there is anything you want to add/amend please send me a message.

This does not include every time they are in a scene together, more along the lines of directly speaking to each other or moments the fandom has come to agree are important.

SEASON TWO

2.01 Knight of Crowns Quentin tells the gang about The Armory but since Eliot is sitting right next to him he focuses a lot of his attention of Eliot (WHOLE LOTTA EYE CONTACT).

The crowning ceremony which I think we all can agree was just DELIGHTFUL. Eliot on one knee, the SMILES. Q: “For what it’s worth, I think you are going to be a really good king.”

Quentin has to go back to Earth, Eliot must stay in Fillory. Q (talking about his crown): “Hang onto this while I’m gone?” To my observation AND PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I’M WRONG, this scene is the first time Quentin calls him “El”. Some nice smiles and banter exchanged, Eliot shares that he is worried he’ll be stuck waiting for his friends to return. They share a hug. E: “It’ll also be okay if you just give my ass like, a little squeeze.”

2.02 Hotel Spa Potions NADA, Quentin is looking for battle magic, Eliot is getting agriculture started. Quentin and the gang go back to Fillory at the end of the episode.

2.03 Divine Elimination Poison throne episode, Eliot accuses them of making plans without him. Q: “Eliot we weren’t trying to exclude you, you just weren’t there.”

They all become cursed besides Penny and try to kill each other. Penny says he’s going to kill them instead. E: “No likey.” Q: “What’s to likey?”

They are all killed and then brought back to life. Eliot revives Quentin.

They fail at killing the Beast. Quentin sends Margo and Eliot off to Ember. E: “Wait, you don't want us on the suicide mission with you?”

Alice becomes a Niffin. When she advances on Quentin, Margo distracts her. When she begins to advance on Eliot and Margo, Quentin releases the demon in his back. When Alice was going to kill him, I think he would’ve let her because he was extremely sad but when she started advancing on his friends he knew he had to do something to stop her.

Alice dies. Incredibly injured, Quentin crawls to her body. Eliot comes up and holds him close while whispering. E: “You have to stop. Just stop. Q, you have to stop.”

2.04 The Flying Forest NADA, Quentin is recovering, Eliot leaves him a note where to find them once he wakes up.

2.05 Cheat Day NADA, Quentin is in the real world at his bullshit!job, Eliot is in Fillory.

2.06 The Cock Barrens Quentin returns to Fillory to summon Alice’s Niffin. Margo and Eliot watch him perform Cirque Du Soleil. He’s been at it an hour so they suggest Quentin go back to the castle and Eliot tries to comfort him. E: “Get some rest. Some food.” Quentin declines and returns to Earth to go to Alice’s memorial.

2.07 Plan B Eliot and Margo return to Earth (with the help of the Eliot Golom) and find Quentin at the Cottage. E: “There’s our little king.”

Quentin proposes the bank heist. E: “Hmm, I think the time we’ve invested in him may actually pay off.”

During the bank heist when Penny is stuck in the vault, Quentin hashes out a deal with Alice to solve the code and Eliot notices him mumbling. E: “Are you talking to yourself?”

They do the bank heist. Eliot’s Golom gets killed stepping in front of Quentin who is about to get killed. Quentin hesitates to leave him before Penny reminds him that Eliot is alive, it’s just clay. Quentin looks back at him. This is the THIRD TIME Quentin has had to see/deal with Eliot dying.

2.08 Word is Bond Quentin returns to Fillory where Margo tells him that they need to mend the Bridge for Eliot’s mind to travel back from the Golom into his body. They visit Eliot’s body. Quentin asks how he can help, Margo tells him to go check on Julia. He tells Margo that if anything changes to contact him immediately.

2.09 Lesser Evils NADA, Quentin is stuck in a cage, then on Earth. He has not seen Eliot alive yet.

2.10 The Girl Who Told Time Quentin is back in Fillory, we did NOT get to see a Queliot reunion. Quentin is drunk, Margo gives him a talking to about getting over Alice, Eliot is planning his wedding. Q: “He’s just so mean when he needs things.” M: “Eliot needs a friend, asshole.”

Quentin goes to Earth to get Josh.

Quentin returns to Fillory with Josh after having psychedelic brownies and immediately tells Eliot he must return to Earth. E: “Don't be ridiculous, you have far too much to do here.” Q: “I had a vision, okay? A way I can maybe help Julia. I can’t ignore it.” E: “Can’t you?” Q: “It was a motherfuckin’ vision, El.” They hug and Eliot tells Quentin that if he misses his wedding, he’ll kill him.

2.11 The Rattening NADA, Eliot gets banished from Fillory, Quentin brings Alice back to life.

2.12 Ramifications Eliot returns to Earth, Quentin has not seen him in awhile, they have a brief discussion.

Eliot and Quentin are getting drunk in the Cottage, Eliot is trying to find out stuff about the dragon, Quentin is emoting about Alice. Eliot defends Mayakovsky and Quentin sinks from his chair to the floor. E: “Alright, let’s do that.” Eliot sinks down as well. E: “I know it’s hard right now, but it’s going to be okay.”

Eliot and Quentin go to meet Umber who is in human form hiding out. He has a lot of Fillory merch. E: “Holy shit, there are two of you (fanboys).”

There are several scenes of Quentin, Eliot, and Umber all talking.

There is an ending scene with Quentin and Eliot discussing conquering Fillory.

2.13 We Have Brought You Little Cakes Alice is back but she’s mad as hell, Quentin gives her a potion so she can’t harm herself. Eliot asks Quentin how she’s doing, Quentin kind of folds in on himself and sinks to the ground. Eliot gets down on his knees to give Quentin a pep talk. E: “You know what you learn when you’re a High King? Screwing up is inevitable, and there are some fuck-ups you can never unfuck. It’s infuriating and it’s heartbreaking.”

Eliot and Quentin come up with a plan to get Ember and Umber back together.

Umber and Quentin are magicked back to Fillory where Ember is having his melt-down.

The gods are killed, Quentin and Alice have sex, magic is turned off by the ‘plumber’.

Sailing into the Doomed Underworld with VOID KING!

Melissa Marie visits with guitarist Tommy Miller about the Indiana band's journey from leaky garages to international festivals and uncovers a plot to conquer your eardrums...

First of all, I want to say congratulations for all the wild success Void King has experienced in this relatively short amount of time as band. You must feel proud of all of your hard work!

While I appreciate the kind words, I don’t know if we look at it the same way. We have been given a ton of great opportunities by a lot of great people and I think we just took advantage of those when we had them, if that makes sense. We had only been a band for a very short time, when we were asked to open for some pretty big names in the stoner, doom and drone genre. It feels like we hustle hard, but we have these hard to define set of expectations for the band that I don’t know if I could outline. All we really wanted to do when we started this thing was to play loud music and drink beer, but as you see that people are seeming to dig it you want to branch out and what not. We’ve played a lot of shows this year with a lot of bands in a lot of different places. I don’t think that is success, in and of itself, but I do think it’s something we can hang our hats on. So now that I have rambled, I am kind of proud of our work ethic. “Success” will work itself out, whatever that ends up meaning.

I would imagine that your relationships with your bandmates would be just as important as your success. I understand that you and your drummer, Derek, have been close friends for about as long as I've been alive that your bassist is actually your younger brother, Chris. How do these connections play into the concoction that is Void King?

I can’t overstate how central and vital that this lineup is to me, personally. I’ve played music with a lot of different people over the years, but the personality thing is always my hang up. As anyone that has ever been in a band before will tell you, that relationship piece is the hardest part to get down and make work. You can write any song with almost anyone. At least, I seem to be able to do that. But to know the people you are writing with and to kind of almost predict how they will participate in the process is borderline miraculous.

Chris is the best musician that I have ever been in a band with -- and that is saying something. He comes from the “prog” world, so he pushes how I think about songwriting all together. Derek and I have been making music together since we were teenagers, practicing in my neighbor’s leaky garage and trying to figure out how to get three guitar players going through one amp. He does a great job of keeping me in check. I tend to want to add some whacky time signature change or dumb chord progression into a song and he knows how to tell me that something is stupid, without making it a whole thing. The whole band is kind of tied together by Jason, for me. Derek and I used to go see him play shows at Ball State when we were young. Jason was the guy in the bands that everyone wanted to see and he was one of the first “rock stars” that I knew, so being able to jam with that guy has been something else.

There are many exciting things happening in the Void King camp, so let's take tackle this one thing at a time. Your fan base has been glued to our collective smart phones and computers following Void King on Facebook and Instagram, championing behind you as you roamed through Europe and left your mark. Please do tell us about your adventures overseas like the Off The Record festival, the challenge it was to schedule such a feat, and those who helped you along the way.

Yeah, I don’t even know if words can properly express just how great Europe was for and to us. It really gave us a different perspective on just about everything and I am sure I am going to miss some experiences here, but I will do my best. First, to say that I am thankful for the time overseas doesn’t even begin to cover it. So many people bought merch and gave us words of encouragement, which really means the world to all of us. It almost felt like we were representing our hometowns when we toured over there. Secondly, precisely none of that tour would have happened without Tjeerd and our label, Off The Record. We played a show on a Wednesday at the Melody Inn with our now label mates, Boudain, and that dude liked us enough to put out our record. I am forever grateful to that man and the risks he has taken on us. As for the shows and adventures over there, they were great.

Every single person that we dealt with was professional, incredibly kind and very encouraging. We were fed at all of our shows, offered a place to stay, and had enough beer to drown a small village. Every single show that we played had a great sound man, stage, and PA. Like, we did not play one bad venue. How many times will I get to play inside of a fortress built in the early 1800’s?

Finally, scheduling was tough, but I got so much help from so many good people that it ended up working out for us in the end. Bob Fouts kind of got the ball rolling for us when I told him that our original booking agent had fallen through, and he put me in touch with quite a few people. From there, I literally just went through Facebook, finding events and venues and seeing where other bands had played in certain cities, and hit those places up. While I got a lot of non-responses, the people that did get back to me were endlessly helpful. I really could not have booked this tour without the help from my new friends Sasha, Ben, Nienke, Maria, and others.

But to come full circle and to answer your question, Off The Record festival was out of this world. Our backline looked like a guitar center warehouse. The sound was arguably the best I had ever heard from the stage. The crowd was packed in there and incredibly receptive to our music. Really, all facets of the trip exceeded our collective expectations.

You've recently announced the release of a 7" split with your label mates Stone In Egypt. Did your time in Europe prompt this collaboration, and is this an indication that there could be more music from Void King to come soon?

That has kind of been in the works for a little whole. But the goal is to definitely write and record a new album in 2018, for sure.

I'd like to talk about your 2016 debut 'There Is Nothing' for a moment. A very sharp sounding piece, this was recorded by Carl Byers at Clandestine Arts. A local hero of sorts. He was also in the legendary blackened doom band Coffinworm. No doubt it was a huge advantage to have such a professional on your side. Surely he's a busy guy, was it difficult to get in contact with him and set it up?

First of all, Coffinworm is my favorite band to ever come out of Indiana. I just want to emphasize your mention there. If people haven’t heard that band, please go do so now. Anyway, Carl is a guy that Jason and I have known is some capacity or another since way back. He’s an old school Muncie guy, so we’ve always had some sort of a connection as it relates to music. Carl is a busy fella to be sure, but he has the right ear for the sound we want. He made us sound like us on the record, and not the “album version” of us. We’ve all heard a band on recording, and then seen them live only to say “Who the hell is this?” We didn’t want that at all.

There Is Nothing by Void King

'There Is Nothing' covers lots of ground with the unique lyrical content, especially about unexplained things like the supernatural. I am particularly attracted to the last two tracks, "Release The Hawks" and "That Was Not An Owl." Lots of us utilize animals as symbols in our personal life and this is transparent through music. You'll stumble across a lot of raven references if you dig into Steve Von Till's 2015 album, 'A Life Unto Itself,' just for example. Any chance we may hear any more songs featuring birds or nature?

Jason’s lyrics have evolved into something else. I don’t know how to say it better than that, but I think you will find more of an “expression of self” on this newest recording. There Is Nothing was more of a commentary on everything else. The new stuff seems to be more of an inward look.

I see 'There Is Nothing' is now in the Salt of the Earth Records Distro! Scott Harrington is quite the force in the underground scene, was it difficult to win him over?

Scott kind of reached out to us to get that relationship started, after we had submitted our music for a festival. He’s one of those guys that really is trying to grow bands and get the word out about music. You can’t have enough of those kinds of people in your corner.

I'm certain that the European tour isn't the end goal, so what is next for Void King?

Definitely. Europe was the first step of a long process. For us, we are going to play couple of more shows and then go into hiding to finish this new record. We want to record next year, and get that whole process moving. But we’re a live band, and we want to play a bunch of festivals in 2018 and 2019. We did a few long weekends this year, and the Europe tour and we want to expand on that. Ideally, we’d like to be on the road as much as we can make happen, and maybe play Indiana three or four times next year, at most.

The Royal Rumble predicted using a neural network trained on r/SquaredCircle posts

-Entry#1: Goldberg. Goldberg is very old and can't go. He is eliminated by Lesnar. Goldberg is the first entrant in the rumble and he might win it. Goldberg hits the gym for a few weeks and enters the Rumble. He eliminates six entrants and then Gillberg comes in and eliminates him, turning heel and eliminating him.

-Entry#2: The Miz. The Miz is has so much heat and his wife Maryse. Miz comes out to Daniel Bryan's music and imagine if he was booed so much. The crowd riots and Miz turns heel. Miz faces off with Alex Riley and eliminates him quickly on Miz TV. He lasts for almost the entire match and is eliminated immediately by Big Show. I thought the crowd would riot, and.

-Entry#3: AJ Styles. AJ Styles is the face that runs the camp and the pop is enormous and no-one expected to see him in WWE. Vince hated him but he shows he is the GOAT and he goes to the midcard. AJ eliminates Goldberg and faces off with Taker, setting up the mania match? AJ is eliminated and Ellsworth eliminates him. Ellsworth should turn heel and DAE AJ turns heel.

-Entry#4: Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan enters the match and can you imagine the crowd's pop? The crowd's chers are deafening and then Miz comes out and gets nuclear heat. Bryan and Miz fight and Talking Smack is eliminated. Renee Young tries to keep everything under control. Bryan has a strong showing but then he is eliminated like a jobber and the crowd soured on the match and turns heel.

-Entry#5: Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels is HBK. Shawn Michaels returns and the segment was so boring. HBK returns to fight AJ Styles and they feud. HBK turns heel and is eliminated. He comes back in the ring and superkicks everyone to set up his Wrestlemania match. Won the rumble from Benoit and he is eliminated.

-Entry#6: JBL. JBL is on commentary and I think hes really improved, but . JBL shits on Otunga and he skins the cat. I LOVE IT MAGGLE. When he entered the ring he shouldn't be on commentary but he turns heel. His jacket is eliminated and Michael Cole. Maggle

-Entry#7: Kofi Kingston. Kofi Kingston avoids elimination and he is the rumble. Kofi and Big E and Xavier are the New Day. Kofi is almost eliminated but he comes back and wins the Rumble and DAE think Big E should be in the main event? Bootyos enter the rumble and he feeds them to the crowd. Kofi is hit by Francesca and fransesca in Randy. Kofi is the GOAT and he's boring and has no charisma. Kofi jumps from the barrier and survives elimination, riding Big E. Y2J eliminates Kofi off-camera.

-Entry#8: Seth Rollins. Seth Rollins sucks since his face turned heel and the main event is the same match we saw last week. He eliminates Strowman with the curb stomp and is banned. The pedigree should be unbanned because it teams with roman. Seth is seth, Seth feuds with Big Show and faces off Meltzer. Elimination is shield and they debut. Rollins eliminates the architect, but he is eliminated by Dean.

-Entry#9: Charlotte. Charlotte is in hell in a Cell and she eliminates Sasha. Charlotte turns heel and she is the best heel and she eliminates history. He eliminates Big Show on the entrance ramp and hot. Charlotte fights Goldberg and skins the cat, but Sasha wins a tag match. Charlotte is the iron man and he is the rumble.

-Entry#10: Tye Dillinger. Tye Dillinger should enter at number ten and then the Miz enters. Tye enters and Daniel Bryan's music plays and then Miz comes out and his workrate is very poor. Tye is in the rumble and cuts a promo to the crowd, turning heel. He debuts and eliminated the turnbuckle. Ten and he eliminates backstage heat and turns heel. Tye is eliminated immediately in a record time.

-Entry#11: Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns is the guy and he turns heel. Vince enters and Roman faces off with Lesnar and they feud to Mania. Roman is a push and he should turn heel. DAE Roman is the heel. He eliminates Roman and better on mic, but he is not that bad. Roman sucks and I don't even care. Roman is the Shield and the shield reunited again and spear. Roman eliminates Big Show and he turned heel long ago. Roman eliminates Raw by kickout. Roman and Seth team up and he eliminated Goldberg. He spears Sasha, but Meltzer eliminates him. They were a heel faction and Seth turned on them. Mark debut and Roman eliminates him through the top rope. The league of Roman then beat him up but he survives elimination. Roman turns heel and his body armor is a face. He wins the rumble from entry one and faces Goldberg at the rumble.

-Entry#12: Dolph Ziggler. Dolph Ziggler feuds with Miz and he enters. Ziggler turned Natalya and his career is champ. WWE universe is eliminated by Kane and twitter. Dolph should turn heel and he conquered the streak. They face off and then Miz enters at number ten, and is taken out. Ziggler put his career on the line to turn heel. He is just boring and NXT.

-Entry#13: Becky Lynch. Becky Lynch lost again she is making history. Smackdown is Becky and they feuded but . Becky Lynch enters and he lasts for almost the entire match. Sexy Becky. Becky eliminates an underdog and how can anyone eliminate a Giant. Take a selfie and twitter I suck. Becky is eliminated and turns on herself. Nattie is betrayed by him by skinning the cat.

-Entry#14: The Undertaker. The Undertaker enters the streak is broken by Lesnar. He debuts and the pop is Smackdown. Raw eliminates Smackdown doesn't making history. Taker is eliminated by Bray and he is visibly sister abigail. Undertaker is at wrestlemania and he eliminates meltzer. He retires by eliminating Elsworth and he is Goldberg. Taker wins the part-timer by outlasting 29 other gong. So sick of this shit but Taker's return is Smackdown. Retires,

-Entry#15: Luke Harper. Luke Harper eliminates Randy Orton and turned face. He turns heel and gives a superkick to Ziggler. JBL is eliminated by Wyatt and sister Abigail. Harper is Orton and they win the big gold. Harper feuds with Rowan and they eliminate Ambrose. He should win but he is eliminated by Kane.

-Entry#16: John Cena. Cena faces off with Ric Flair and they feud. He turns heel and breaks up DX. Cena is great and he is almost eliminated by merch. If you want to win, you will eliminate Cena. He feuds with AJ and wins. When Hornswoggle eliminates him he turned heel and Nikki. Today show eliminates Bray Wyatt and Dolph Ziggler and there are many boos. Cena beats AJ by turning heel and then Ric Flair beats him up. John Cena sucks but he is a part-timer and he is injured. Cena eliminates Roman and the ref bump is WWE universe.

-Entry#17: Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe debuts by eliminating Brock. He faces off with Lesnar and the crowd pops loudly but Miz enters and eliminates him. The indies turn heel and he eliminates Joe. Marks faces off with Regal and Joe interrupts his elimination and returns. Chances drastic go down and Joe eliminates saturday. Samoa Joe hides under the ring and he attacks Roman, but is eliminated anyway and wins. He's fat and eliminates Balor and turns FREAKS.

-Entry#18: Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho is Y2J. The list of Jericho turns heel and eliminates Kevin Owens, and they feud for the universal. When Jericho enters he eliminates Sasha and turns heel. Jericho eliminates Y2J and Roadblock with a lionsault. He taps and wins the championship. DAE beats up Jericho and turns heel. Miz enters and Daniel Bryan is very angry.

-Entry#19: Renee Young. Renee Young hosts talking Smack and he is Daniel Bryan. Renee eliminates Baron Corbin on the way to the ring and she is hot and the Miz cuts a promo on her. Network is eliminated by Renee with a dropkick from the turnbuckle. Corbin is in the main event and he is turned heel on Talking Smack. Renee is the best show, talking is best Raw and top rope. Renee retains and eliminates Dean Ambrose. The Undertaker gives him a tombstone and Renee is eliminated over the second rope.

-Entry#20: Finn Balor. Finn Balor fights the demon and they enter the Rumble by Wrestlemania. The original plans were to eliminate Finn in the spear and turn Gallows heel. Finn eliminates AJ and pops his shoulder back in but he is Universal. 2K17 includes Goldberg and Finn eliminates him. His music plays and Miz enters to nuclear heat. Finn is in the main event and the rumble turns heel. Balor eliminates Triple H using poor workrate. His face is the club and they feud with AJ and tag Finn. He is very good and boring and NJPW is the clib. Brock Lesnar guy is turned heel and enters the rumble, but he reveals the demon and eliminates him. Finn returns and wins the rumble but he is injured and out for 6-8 months.

-Entry#21: Nikki Cross. Nikki Cross is Sanity and they are the Wyatts. Nikki Storm is from Glasgow and she eliminates Asuka and they are certainly feuding. NXT debuts and enters at number ten. Nikki Cross eliminates Fulton and he is the winner. Sanity is the stable and they win the women's belt. Takeover is eliminated by thicci Cross and he comes back into the ring and beats him up. Nikki feuds with Asuka and they turn heel with the jobber. The ref restarts the match and they beat up Tye.

-Entry#22: Neville. Neville is turning heel and he debuts. He feuds with the king and he is Rich Swann. Neville and Live stare-down and his pecs are finally turned heel. Lesnar is a cruiserweight and they should bleed. Neville is eliminated by Jericho and lands on the spanish announcers table.

-Entry#23: Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar is the rumble and he is on something. Taker fights with Brock and superkicks him. Lesnar has a backstage promo and he turns heel. Paul Heyman enters the Rumble and he eliminates Goldberg, leading to their Mania match. Brock isn't there but his music plays and Randy Orton comes out. James Ellsworth eliminates Brock by suplex city and they feud. Bray Wyatt is eliminated and Michael Cole enters the ring with. He fights Brock and wins the feud. Brock was busted and Paul Heyman is suspended.

-Entry#24: Braun Strowman. Braun Strowman is a wrestler and he is hidden under the ring until the end. He kills James Ellsworth and goes shopping with Carmella under the ring. Braun and Brock face off but they are interrupted and eliminates the rear view. If Braun wins there will be a match at wrestlemania that can be called the rumble or summerslam or wrestlemania 3. BRAAAAAAUN is eliminated by Bray Wyatt and JBL is on commentary.

-Entry#25: Scott Steiner. Scott Steiner is a GENETIC freak and he turns heel. When the odds drastic go down he eliminates Kurt Angle and his PEAKS are screaming in. STEINER will feud with Ellsworth and their match is at steroids. Titus is a FREAKS who eliminates SATURDAY and turns heel. Kurt Angle debuts and eliminates Joe and US champion Paige. The Triple H AT SACKERFICE is turning heel and breaks up Scott Steiner. Orton is Raw.

-Entry#26: Dean Ambrose. Dean Ambrose enters at number 12 and he is a champion. Seth Rollins turns heel and the Shield reunites and is eliminated. Shane invites him and they face Sasha in the Triple treat. Dean eliminates Corbin with a lunatic lariat and total divas championship is lunatic. Ambrose eliminates AJ by Ellsworth him and wins the match. Smackdown is increased by and. Meltzer clotheslines Dean and they fight on the turnbuckle.

-Entry#27: James Ellsworth. James Ellsworth enters and he is in violation all across the match. He is eliminated by a roll-up, then enters and feuds with JBL into summer series. Ellsworth is not eliminated and he eliminates the Miz. Attitude era clotheslines Ellsworth and Carmella is visibly on the turnbuckle for an elimination through barricade. A four star match is found under the ring and they turn heel and then turn heel by turning heel. Ellsworth fights Strowman and his fighting chance is two. Ellsworth is a finishing move and he wins the PPV.

-Entry#28: Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens is fighting AJ Styles when the survivor series happens and Miz debuts. Then everyone eliminates each other and the final entrant wins, turning him heel. Owens eliminates best friend Roman and he takes the bump. The ref counts and he is hiding under the ring. Kevin Owens feuds with Brie and WWE universe is pop. Owens eliminates TNA and the uppercut is turned heel with theatrics. He eliminates Sami Zayn and they feud into backlash.

-Entry#29: Big Show. Big Show is a giant and he debuts at the rumble. He turns heel and eliminates Kane and Byron with a clothesline. Vince enters and is immediately eliminated by cuts a heel promo which turns him heel. Big Show has eliminated the Titus and he is eliminated in UK. Big Show is thrown over the top rope who can? The takeover is botched and Big Show is injured by Miz, turning him heel. Roman is entered in the rumble and his ring gear is eliminated by. Kane was victorious and the championship is the final four.

Takeover is debut and her heel turn is a hot. Asuka is scared of her and the refs are beaten. Asuka pins Billie Kay and Bayley and he eliminates Bray Wyatt, breaking up the family and turning him heel before he turns heel. The table is eliminated and the final four fight in and his name is Eddie Cena who first eliminates Kane. Asuka debuts and cuts a face promo, turning heel. Cole is eliminated and now Bray and Ryback fight. Cesaro enters at number one and is eliminated but Asuka finds him and eliminates him. Breezango fights and is eliminated, turning him heel. Asuka fights Brock Lesnar and kill you, eliminating him. The winner is Goldberg and he turns heel.

Review Black Clover Season 1 – Part 3

Most of the episodes included in this season deal with the Royal Capital arc, where after Asta and Yuno conquered their first Dungeon, they now face an invasion of the Undead legion. Before that, Season 3 begins with a party, and the introduction of more Magic Knights as supporting actors. We take a closer look at the eccentric characters living in this world such as the Sorcerer King and many other famous members of the Magic Knights. These early episodes make it very clear that Asta, Yuno, and even Noelle are not appreciated by their team members. One character that I personally like in this arc is Leopold Vermillion: a fire magic knight who is as bold and personable as Asta and soon declares himself as Asta’s new rival. He is a stubborn character, often seen in shonen anime but is perhaps more “lovely” than the original Asta.

Having said that, the invasion created spectacular battles and countless enemies. This also promises to be the premise for the main villain of the film. An organization known as The Eye of the Midnight Sun, composed of a group of people who served a man who claimed to be The Master. I like that Black Clover seems to be more focused on building villains. This was done several times during the Dungeon arc by building on the past and continuing to develop these characters into the future. With the film already enjoying support from audiences, even in its early stages, this is unnecessary but welcome, especially given the genre that tends to focus on magical powers and the battles rather than the characters. It’s quite common to mix effects between current shonen series. A common recipe for movies that Black Clover producer, Studio Pierrot, will be very familiar with due to previous films of the same genre. Movies like Bleach and Naruto. Usually, the fight scenes are where the effects really shine, however, this wasn’t really the case in Season 3. The effects were inconsistent and especially bad in episode 23. In this episode the effects were inconsistent. often inconsistent, and a few individuals disappointing, with confusing conversations and sometimes lengthy shots focusing on the characters’ legs. Perhaps due to budget and time constraints, but overall still quite disappointing, especially when the Royal Capital arc has quite a lot of matches and is not a sub arc

Vickeblanka’s “Black Clover” is a piano piece, with a cheerful melody and is by far my favorite song in the movie. The song is catchy and has some fight scenes. EMPiRE’s “Black to the Dreamlight” is a more mellow ending than the powerful music used before (“Amazing Dreams” by Swanky Dank). Although I’m a big fan of the old soundtrack, the new ending theme is a great way to settle in after the fight scenes. This season has quite a lot of special episodes when the total number of episodes is again quite small with only 9 episodes. Special episodes include: Comments on episode 20 and episode 23 in English, inside Studio J: Technical team, Inside episode highlights, Clover Clips special edition, and opening and closing songs words, both old and new.

As for the characters and plot, I highly recommend the recent movies. While there’s a very predictable character building with this genre, I like how they try to bring out characters other than the main ones. What’s not so good about the movie at the moment is the scenes. Especially when the fight scenes are quite small, I hope the effects can really stand out like in the previous part, but maybe because we are building contradictions to prove it. For a genre with multiple seasons like My Hero Academia, the current series is producing strong and excellent effects, and that makes small mistakes easily overlooked. I appreciated the movie more than at first when it entered its suspense phase and I am still optimistic that it will reach its peak.
